King & Country Vietnam Gun Truck prototype

Here’s a preview of our next ‘VIETNAM’ vehicle... It’s the mighty U.S. Army Gun Truck mounting the Quad .50 calibre machine guns plus an M60 up front.

During the war U.S. truck convoys were constantly being ambushed on the roads between major U.S. bases and forward firebases and other installations.

To counter these attacks and provide at least partial convoy defence several US Army Transportation companies modified some of their own 2.5 and 5 ton cargo trucks into ‘Weapons Platforms’.

Gun tucks mounted a wide variety of weaponry subject to the availability of guns and armour.

Our K&C ‘Gun Truck’ is mounting the WW2 vintage Quad .50 cal. Browning Machine Guns.

In all, an estimated 300-400 U.S. Army cargo trucks were transformed into a wide variety of these unique fighting vehicles... No one knows the exact figure because the guys building these very original vehicles often begged, borrowed or stole much of the armour and most of the weaponry to fit onto them!!!

And so these amazing ‘wonders’ continued to serve right up until the last U.S. Army Truck Company left South Vietnam in 1972.

K&C will be producing two different – named versions of this unique model... ‘SUZY Q’ and ‘The Cong Crusher’, Later we will post colour versions.
